Step 1: Register animal quarantine for terrestrial animal and products thereof (MEAT, EGGS, MILK, animal and poultry feed, viscera,…)

Make sure exporter and their products are allowed to import Vietnam because there’re few exporters and few products that are accepted.

• Exporters and products are accepted, the shipment owner shoul send Department of Animal Health a registration dossier for animal quarantine which shall include:

• An application for animal quarantine
• Certified copy of Business Certification
• Health Certificate
• HACC
• Documents from CITES (if any)
• Other relevant documents

Within 5 working days after receiving the completed registration dossier, Department of Animal Health will issue an official letter for conducting the animal quarantine.

• Exporters and products are not currently accepted, shipment owner should register new products with Department of Animal Health. The registration process is about 4-6 months.

Registration dossiers shoul be consulted by professional agency to avoid mistake, wasted time and fee.

Step 2: Conduct quarantine of terrestrial animals and animal products

From Feb 2019, all animal quarantine is under Department of Animal Health manegement (instead of Department of Livestock Production and Department of Fisheries). All dossiers shall be sent to Department of Animal Health

1. Dossier for declaring quarantine

• Bill of lading, invoice, packing list
• Sale contract
• Health Certificate
• HACC
• Quarantine request form
• Approval letter for quarantine

Within 1 working day after receiving the dossier declaring the import quarantine, the assigned  veterian agancy will inform the goods owners of the time and place to conduct quarantine.

Results will be release within 5-6 working days

If the sample is not qualified, another samples will be required. If the samples does not meet the requirement, the product will be forced to re-export.

1. Dossier for Food Safety Inspection

• Food Safety Inspection form
• Customs declaration
• Bill of lading, invoice, packing list
• Health Certificate
• Approval letter for quarantine

Within 3 working days after receiving a completed dossier for Food Safety Inspection, Department of Animal Health will issue certificate offood safety inspection.

Step 3: Clear customs

Dossier for customs declaration

• Bill of lading, invoice, packing list
• Sale cotract
• Delivery order
• Health certificate
• Declaring quarantine
• Certificate of food safety
• Certificate of Origin or other relevant documents (if any)
• Temporary delivery for preservation request form (in case warehouse was qualified)
• Other documents under different departments’ management.

Dossiers are examined by customs physically at port/ airport

When the customs is cleared, shipments are released.

Step 4: Price consulting after customs clearance

Some types of products are under risk of value management shall be requested for price consulting.
