PROCESS OF IMPORTING FOREIGN FRUITS TO VIETNAM

Vietnam has recently participated in several free trade agreements, which broaden opportunities for Vietnamese producers to export fruits and distributors to import foreign fruits.

 

What are  requirements for importing foreign fruits to Vietnam?

 

1. Research whether the kinds of fruit are eligible to import to Vietnam

Vietnam has restriction on kinds of fruits are eligible to import.

2. Documents required for customs clearance

  • Bill of lading
  • Invoice
  • Packing list
  • Phytosanitary certificate – issued by exporter
  • Phytosanitary certificate – issued by Plant Protection Department at destination port (Sea Dragon is one of reliable agencies helping importers to obtain this certificate)
  •  

3. Customs clearance and phytosanitary procedure

Before shipments arrive destination ports, importers have to register with Plant Protection Department at destination port with full detail of the shipments. Documents required:

  • Phytosanitary inspection register form
  • Phytosanitary declaration form
  • Phytosanitary certificate – issued by exporter
  • Bill of lading/ Invoice/ Packing list
  • Other related documents

When shipments arrive, phytosanitary inspection will be conducted at the destination port.

Customs clearance documents can also be submitted by the time waiting for phytosanitary inspection:

  • Phytosanitary inspection register form
  • Phytosanitary declaration form
  • Phytosanitary certificate – issued by exporter
  • Bill of lading/ Invoice/ Packing list
  • Certificate of origin
  • Customs declaration form

When phytosanitary certificate is issued, customs system is linked to update customs clearance status.
